Singing the Hills Story
“Having grown up in the tundras of North America, I had never dried my clothes outside. But when I arrived in Australia, I noticed that everyone had contraptions in their back gardens, which I was quickly told were called "Hills' Hoists." Since it was a novelty to me, my friends and co-workers told me their stories of all the other ways they used them as children. I thought this was so much fun, I wrote a song about it, including verses about drying clothes, children's play and imagining taking one around the world” Click here to hear Katy's song.

A Popular choice for Australia Day Celebrations
"On behalf of Events Coordination, Department of the Premier and Cabinet I would like to thankyou for supplying the hills hoist bases for our Visions of Australia display at the Australia Day Festival held at the South Bank Parklands on 26 January 2009.
The Festival was a huge success and the Big Backyard area where the hoists were displayed was one of the most popular areas.
